Is it possible that Mapycr being Cyrillic letter: МАРУСЯ (Marusia) ? Yorkwoo (talk) 16:01, 4 April 2022 (UTC)

Actually, that makes a lot more sense and would explain the backwards R letter. Sondenise (talk) 18:30, 4 April 2022 (UTC)

Digressive information about "Slave of Anima"

Long time no see. I’d like to add an additional information about "Slave of Anima". I guess that it may be too digressive to add them directly to the article. --Mokyubacky (talk) 19:22, 8 April 2022 (UTC)

  • The word "anima" is originally a Latin word with multiple meanings, such as "wind," "the vital principle," and "life." The most famous derivative of "anima" that we know of is "animation." It means "animate + -ion," i.e., "the act of breathing life or soul into something."
    • By the way, there is an interesting interpretation of "Slave of Anima". That is, "Anima" in the Witch name could be exactly "Animation," i.e., a dark humor joke about the poor working environment in the animation production field. In the MADOGATARI exhibition, Inu Curry have been created and exhibited an "animation witch." The name of this witch's minions is "SYACHIKU." Shachiku in Japanese literally means "company livestock," and slangy refers to wage laborers who work very hard under poor working conditions. Also, Slave of anima is placed in a spinning wheel and roasted over a fire from below. There is a Japanese expression "hi-no-kuruma," which refers to a harsh financial situation where makeshift solutions become everyday events (this also shares an origin with Karin's Doppel). It could be a reference to the very tight anime production schedule for Magia Record, and the fact that Slave of anima is a "dog-shaped witch" also makes it possible that this is a self-deprecating joke by Inu Curry (especially since Mr. Doroinu sometimes refers to himself as a "dog").
    • But, of course, there can be other interpretations. The series of allusions mentioned here may indicate that weak (and disadvantaged) megucas such as Kuroe and Kuro are forced to live hand-to-mouth existences (personally, I think this interpretation is more elegant).

Regarding "shachiku", her barrier could be based on the salaryman. There are computer icons and charts similar to what one would find in an office job, and the pig mascot is also dressed as a salaryman. Plus, the other runes in her labyrinth are "deadline" and "accomplish". Homupizza8 (talk) 13:57, 27 May 2022 (UTC)

Is This Page Necessary?

Considering minor Witches in the original anime (such as Uhrmann) got entire pages dedicated to them, and Box Wood had a page long before she was added to the game, is a page compiling anime-exclusive Witches necessary? I understand that in the years since the original anime's release, even the minor Witches got more content through games and such that could fill out their pages, but they were still given individual pages from the start. --Garr9988 (talk) 21:33, 8 April 2022 (UTC)

I would think so. At the moment, these witches have very minimal information about them. Neo Dorothy I think should have her own page, and I may create that page, but for now that's just how it is. I understand what you're saying, though. However, to me this just doesn't seem possible. (This is my first "talk" on this wiki. If I did it wrong, please tell me.) -- PureChaos

It has been done. ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 07:52, 9 February 2023 (UTC)

Move Alina Eve

Looks like she's not anime-exclusive anymore, should she maybe have her own page now? ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 04:07, 2 October 2022 (UTC)

Yeah, I would say so. Her section has grown enough that it could warrant its own page. Feel free to branch out the Ichizo into its own page as well if you like. Hell, there's enough information for the witches now that we could probably make a page for each one (and just leave the unnamed doppels/witches on this page as a "Minor Doppels/Witches" kind of page. Change Page Title

Given that many of the Witches from the anime have now been added to the game, either as Witches or Doppels, I think this page (if it's going to continue existing at all) should swap "exclusive" for "debut" or something similar. --Garr9988 (talk) 20:07, 10 February 2023 (UTC)

For the record, the only reason I didn't file a deletion request is because it also contains the anonymous anime-exclusive doppels. ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 00:44, 11 February 2023 (UTC)

Alina's Atelier Factor of Despair Witches

Hi, I just uploaded some fan cards of Renata, Shalimar, Cyan, Vayu, Don Rocinante and Aodamo as they were recently revealed in the newest magireco event. Tbh, I don't know if there will be a page made for them or if it's best to leave them in the minor witches and Doppels, so I'll leave the cards I made here, and if anyone wants, you can update them. I can also update and add more of the magireco witches of the magical girls as they get revealed in the future :D Karminja (talk) 23:47, 19 March 2024 (UTC)

Is there any benefit to that, vs just using the game assets? Those are much lower res than the PNGs we get directly in the game, and the purpose of those cards is to display the Witch's lore... which those witches don't have. I think still using witch cards for witches and such that never got them (because I *think* they're based off early 2011 anime promo material?) is an outdated practice. EPF (talk) 05:30, 1 May 2024 (UTC)
I think that if we're going to use a card for one witch we should use the same format for all of them… though that only means if they appear in a context where we'd use a card (either they're shown on a character list page, or they have a page of their own). But it's also very weird to me that no-one has thought to break out the witch card background into an independent image and simply display it behind the transparent witch image, instead making a new card every time there's a new witch. With people making these cards all the time, surely that blank witch card must exist somewhere? If it were uploaded to the wiki in a decent resolution, then I would probably delete (nearly?) all the witch cards and just compose them on the fly like that. ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 13:16, 1 May 2024 (UTC)
Given we already use Template:Card, it could perhaps be updated to account for that change... Of course, not touching the actual 2011 promo cards EPF (talk) 10:45, 15 May 2024 (UTC)
I happen to have both sets of blanks thanks to Witch's House a while ago. Sondenise (talk) 18:39, 1 May 2024 (UTC)
That blank rumour card isn't actually blank, however. It has a row of ?'s along the top. ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 03:53, 8 May 2024 (UTC)
Semi-unrelated to specifically those new MagiReco witches, but it seems like my theory on them being based off 2011 promo material is correct: https://www.madoka-magica.com/tv/special/dic/card1.html . This format of witch cards is unique to this site/page, later media had no problems displaying witches on different cards, like File:FPfkyu4aMAIjKcv.jpg as promo material for Neo Dorothy; MagiReco's ingame witchcards are different too, like File:Neo_Dorothy_MF_doppel_card.jpg.
